Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has suspended Muaz Ali, the General Manager of its Engineering and Projects Department.
MIFCO stated that because state institutions are investigating cases involving Muaz Ali, and the company is conducting an administrative inquiry, he has been suspended for a period of 30 days under MIFCO's employee regulations. The company added that a memo signed by CEO Brigadier General (Retd) Farhath Shaheer was issued today to inform the company's management and staff.
MIFCO stated that to ensure the company's operations are not disrupted due to Muaz's suspension, the Project Management Unit of the Engineering Department has been handed over to Manager Mohamed Shameem. Furthermore, the Engineering Unit has been handed over to Consultant Engineer Ubaidulla Hussain, according to MIFCO.
MIFCO noted that although Muaz's case is not directly related to the company, issues concerning the integrity of individuals in responsible positions are taken very seriously by the management. In this regard, MIFCO assured the public that it will continue to take such necessary measures alongside its renewed efforts to maintain the company's trust and reputation.
MIFCO stated that it will continue to take necessary actions in the future in accordance with Maldivian laws, corporate governance principles, and the company's policies and procedures.
