The state fisheries company (MIFCO) has disbursed over 31 million Rufiyaa to vessels that sold fish in May.
According to the statistics released by MIFCO today, a total of 1,791 tonnes of fish from 693 vessels were purchased at various MIFCO facilities and boats last month. After deducting for fuel and ice purchased by the vessels from MIFCO, a total of 31,081,853.00 Rufiyaa was disbursed to the vessels.
Skipjack tuna was the highest quantity of fish weighed to MIFCO last month as well. While 1,708 tonnes of fish were weighed from 367 vessels, 29,063,153.00 Rufiyaa was disbursed to those vessels.
Looking at the details of yellowfin tuna purchased by MIFCO last month, 6.9 tonnes of fish above 10 kg were purchased from 109 vessels. A total of 138 million Rufiyaa was disbursed for that fish. Furthermore, while 75.2 tonnes of fish above 15 kg were purchased from 217 vessels, over 1.8 million Rufiyaa was disbursed for that fish.
Compared to April this year, the amount of fish weighed to MIFCO in May has decreased significantly. In April, a total of 4,414 tonnes of fish from 1068 vessels were purchased at various MIFCO facilities and boats. After deducting for fuel and ice purchased by the vessels from MIFCO, a total of 78,778,405 Rufiyaa was disbursed to the vessels.
