MIFCO has released payments today for all pending bills for fish purchased from fishermen up to January 25.
In a message sent to fishermen, MIFCO stated that the money owed up to January 25 has now been deposited.
"Attention fishermen! The money owed to fishermen up to 25 January 2024 has now been deposited. Thank you!" MIFCO said.
MIFCO further stated that due to a technical issue with transfers from Bank of Maldives to Maldives Islamic Bank accounts, funds would not have been deposited into Islamic Bank accounts yet. MIFCO added that the deposits will be made once the issue is resolved.
MIFCO had previously stated that the "backlog" of pending payments for fishermen's bills would be cleared by today. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the "backlog" has been fully cleared. A fisherman who spoke to Keyolha said that the payments released were for fish purchased by MIFCO at the rate of 25 Rufiyaa.
