MIFCO CEO inquires into the challenges and concerns of Thinadhoo fishermen

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), Mohamed Anas, has engaged with the fishermen of Thinadhoo City to understand the challenges and concerns they face.

According to MIFCO, CEO Anas listened to the fishermen’s concerns during his visit to assess the condition of MIFCO's facilities in GDh. Thinadhoo, as part of his ongoing visits to the company's regional operational centers. During the visit, he met individually with fishermen at the Thinadhoo Fishermen’s Jetty area and the fishermen’s park (Masveringe Maizaan). MIFCO stated that the CEO listened attentively to the individual concerns raised and assured the fishermen that efforts would be made to deliver the solutions they seek.

Furthermore, MIFCO noted that discussions were held with the fishermen regarding ways to further enhance and streamline the services provided to them by the company.

MIFCO highlighted that CEO Mohamed Anas’s engagement with Thinadhoo fishermen during his visit to Huvadhu Atoll is part of broader efforts to strengthen ties with fishermen across different regions of the country, closely understand their situation and needs, and enhance MIFCO’s operations and services.

During the visit, CEO Anas also inspected the ongoing progress of the Thinadhoo Fisheries Complex project, which is being developed for fish purchasing, chilling, and cold storage. Once completed, this factory in Thinadhoo will significantly resolve the fish weighing and processing challenges faced by fishermen in Huvadhu Atoll, particularly those in South Huvadhu Atoll (Gaafu Dhaalu).

MIFCO stated that its primary goal is to work collaboratively with fishermen, resolve their grievances, and foster sustainable development across the fisheries industry.
