The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that it will be purchasing skipjack tuna at a rate of MVR 18 per kilo today.
In a general message shared with vessel owners, MIFCO stated that fish will be purchased at MVR 18 per kilo today from the harbors of its three main centers: Kooddoo Fisheries Complex, Addu Fisheries Complex, and Felivaru Fisheries Complex.
Following the Fitr Eid holidays, MIFCO has resumed purchasing fish from its centers today. Additionally, starting today, ice sales have also resumed from the company's centers and ice plants.
Although the company suspended fish purchasing during the Eid period, diesel required by fishermen was sold under a specific procedure. Currently, MIFCO is issuing 1,200 liters of diesel to vessels over 85 feet and 800 liters to vessels under 85 feet.
