MIFCO begins issuing ice on credit to fishing vessels today

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has started issuing ice on credit today to vessels that sell fish to the company.

MIFCO stated that starting today, it will issue up to 10 tonnes of ice on credit to vessels that "sell fish to MIFCO". Accordingly, any vessel weighing fish to MIFCO can take up to 10 tonnes of ice on credit in multiple installments, the company said.

The money for the ice taken on credit by fishermen will be deducted from the bill for the fish sold to MIFCO by the vessel. Therefore, the bill will be prepared after deducting the money for the ice purchased on credit, MIFCO noted.

MIFCO says it is issuing ice on credit to vessels to encourage fishermen to go out fishing.
