Massive Increase in Fish Exports!

The volume of fish products exported from the Maldives has increased.

According to statistics published by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), 21,599.4 metric tonnes of fish products were exported in the first three months of this year. Compared to the 14,259.9 metric tonnes of fish products exported in the first three months of last year, this is an increase of 7,339.5 metric tonnes.

Looking at the first three months of 2025, 5,710.9 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in January. Furthermore, 8,511.6 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in February, while 7,376.9 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in March.

Looking at the same period in 2024, 4,475.4 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in January. Additionally, 6,024.4 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in February, while 3,760.2 metric tonnes of fish and fish products were exported in March.

In the first three months of this year, the Maldives exported the highest quantity of fish as fresh frozen fish. As such, 19,674.4 metric tonnes of frozen raw fish were exported, with frozen skipjack tuna being the most exported. In the first three months of this year, 16,323.4 metric tonnes of fresh frozen skipjack tuna were exported. During this period, 3,250.1 metric tonnes of fresh frozen yellowfin tuna were also exported. Furthermore, 101 metric tonnes of other varieties of fresh frozen tuna were exported during this period.
