The marine safety and security information program conducted in Lh. Atoll has successfully concluded.
To familiarize citizens with ensuring marine safety and security, the Marine Police and Lh. Atoll Police jointly conducted this program from the 10th to the 11th of this month in Naifaru, Hinnavaru, Olhuvelifushi, and Kurendhoo of the atoll.
Information sessions were conducted as part of this program for vessel owners, seafarers, and fishermen, as well as school students and parents, with police stating that information was provided to more than 200 people. These sessions provided information on things to pay attention to in order to ensure marine safety and security. Police also stated that they explained how to act in marine incidents and the importance of wearing life jackets.
In addition, police said that information was shared with officers at Lh. Atoll Police Stations on how to attend to and investigate marine accident scenes.
According to the police, this program, which is being conducted across the Maldives, aims to remind seafarers of the importance of paying attention to safety measures and to increase awareness on the matter.
