Marine Safety and Security Awareness Program Launched in Sh. Atoll

An awareness program providing information on marine safety and security has commenced in Sh. Atoll.

This awareness program, targeting all islands in Sh. Atoll, is conducted jointly by the Marine Police and Sh. Atoll Police. The program began on the 13th of this month, and police stated that sessions have so far been conducted in Funadhoo, Foakaidhoo, Lhaimagu, and Komandoo.

During these sessions, participants were briefed on necessary marine safety and security measures, enforced laws and regulations, maritime law enforcement agencies, mandatory safety equipment, primary causes of incidents, and collision regulations. Additionally, information was provided regarding resort lagoon areas, restricted diving zones, important considerations while diving, and related fines.

Police stated that the program is scheduled to be conducted across all inhabited islands of Sh. Atoll. Under this program, sessions will deliver crucial information specifically targeted at vessel owners and fishermen on every island. Furthermore, police mentioned that information sessions will also be held for police officers working in Sh. Atoll, school students across the islands, and employees working in various institutions.

The inauguration ceremony held on the 13th of this month was graced by the President of the Sh. Atoll Council, Mohamed Siyam. The ceremony was attended by Upper Police Region Commander Chief Superintendent of Police Ibrahim Zuhuree, Head of Marine Police Superintendent of Police Abdulla Hameed Yoosuf, and Sh. Atoll Commander Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Abdulla.
