A man has been found dead after going fishing near Mahakanfushi, an uninhabited island near L. Gan.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Abdul Samad Mohamed from Fesfari, L. Gan Thundi.

Following a missing person report filed around 09:50 this morning, police stated that he was found around 11:30 am while searching the area where he went missing. Quoting Gan Hospital, police confirmed he was already dead when found.
Police stated that they are investigating the necessary aspects related to this case.
The late Samad had gone to L. Baresdhoo with a group to catch fish. After casting their nets to catch fish between Baresdhoo and Mahakanfushi, they went ashore. Samad went ashore with them. However, when he was not seen afterwards, the people who went with him returned to Gan and reported the incident. A relative of Samad who spoke to this newspaper said they had to return to report the incident because they did not have a phone with them.
