A man has died after going into the sea to catch fish near the breakwater in R. Alifushi.
The deceased is a 24-year-old Maldivian man.
Man dies while fishing near Alifushi breakwater
According to the police, the man who died had gone into the sea to catch fish near the Alifushi breakwater earlier this morning. Police stated that two other individuals had also gone into the sea with him. The incident was reported to the police around 12:08 pm today. Police reported that the incident was called in after the deceased went underwater to catch fish and failed to resurface.
Police recently stated that the man was retrieved and taken to the island's health centre, and the centre informed the police that he had passed away. Police also stated that they are currently investigating the case.
