The Maldives and the United States have discussed strengthening cooperation in the fisheries sector.
These discussions took place during a courtesy call paid yesterday by the US Ambassador to the Maldives, Hugo Yue-Ho Yon, to the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam.
During this visit, broad discussions were held on potential collaborative efforts in the fisheries sector between the two countries. In this regard, the two officials discussed strengthening cooperation and exploring investment opportunities. Furthermore, the Ministry of Fisheries stated that discussions were also held on increasing joint efforts between the two countries to combat illegal fishing in the region.
