Maduvvari fishing boat finds suspected ambergris

A fishing boat from R. Maduvvari has found what is believed to be ambergris.

The suspected ambergris was found by the R. Maduvvari boat "Hivvaru" while out fishing in Lh. Atoll.

The owner of the boat, Ahmed Zilal, said it was found when they entered the lagoon of Lh. Olhuveli due to bad weather. He said it is suspected to be ambergris, and work to confirm it has not yet begun.

"We haven't even checked the weight yet. Next, we have to try and confirm if it is ambergris," Zilal said.

Looking at the photo shared by the boat owner, the found object most closely resembles white ambergris.

A boat from R. Dhuvaafaru previously found 800 grams of white ambergris in 2019. White ambergris is one of the most special and valuable types of ambergris.
