The Latti is a species of tuna. It travels in schools within the inner seas of the Maldives and the open ocean outside the atolls. It comes very close to the reefs to feed on bait. It is a fish caught in large numbers in Maldivian tuna fishing using live bait pole-and-line and trolling. Latti is commonly consumed by Maldivians. The maximum size of Latti is about 1 meter.
The two dorsal fins on the back of the fish are separated by a very small gap. The upper part of the fish has dark blue broad oblique stripes. The color of the upper part of the fish is dark blue. The belly area is silver. There are black spots on the belly near the pectoral fins. The visibility and number of these spots vary among individual fish of this species.
