The project to develop the boat beaching area and swimming area, and protect the coast of N. Landhoo has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
At a ceremony held yesterday at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, State Minister Ismail Hameed signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry. Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosuf signed on behalf of MTCC.
Under this project, dredging operations of 24,800 cubic meters, construction of a 320-meter breakwater, and installation of a 420-meter groyne will be carried out.
This project was awarded to MTCC to be completed within 360 days for 47.86 million Rufiyaa.
Landhoo, with a population of 750 people, is a reef island. Currently, boat owners beach their vessels near the residential area, which negatively impacts the island's residents. Once the project is completed, a specific developed area will be dedicated to boat beaching activities.
