The land reclamation work required to build the government-planned fish processing factory in F. Nilandhoo has been awarded to a contractor.
This work was awarded under a contractor finance model during a special ceremony held by the government today to award several development projects related to the public. The ceremony was graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Two fisheries-related agreements were signed at this ceremony. One of these agreements is the awarding of the land reclamation work for the establishment of the F. Nilandhoo fish processing factory to a contractor. The reclamation of 3.2 hectares of land and harbour work required to commence the fish factory project planned for F. Nilandhoo was awarded to a company named Atheon Private Limited.
The Nilandhoo fish factory is being developed to include a 1,500-tonne cold storage, brine and blast freezing facilities, and a 50-tonne processing facility. The establishment of the factory has been awarded to Dongfang Electric International Corporation, a Chinese state-owned company.
