L. Gan harbour development project also awarded to MTCC!

The L. Gan harbour development project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The agreement to award the newly established harbour project on the north side of Gan to MTCC was signed between the government and MTCC during a ceremony held to meet the citizens of Gan, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to the inhabited islands of Haddhunmathi (Laamu Atoll).

Under this project agreement, Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib signed on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure. Managing Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retired) Ahmed Saudhee signed on behalf of MTCC. Cabinet ministers, members of parliament, Gan council members, and senior government officials participated in this ceremony.

Under this agreement, works will include dredging the lagoon and channel, constructing a 310-meter quay wall, building a 151-meter long and 2-meter wide concrete jetty, a 25-meter long and 2-meter wide bridge, a 145-meter channel breakwater, and a 23.50-meter submerged breakwater.

This project was awarded to MTCC for 34.06 million Rufiyaa, to be completed within 525 days.

Gan, with a population of 5,625, is a fishing island. Fishermen are currently experiencing significant difficulties due to the lack of space in the harbour currently used in Gan. However, with the completion of the newly established harbour, the island's citizens will get a spacious harbour to moor their vessels.
