The Kudahuvadhoo Island Council has decided to charge a fee for electricity provided to vessels from the island's harbour.
The Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Council stated that starting from the first of March, vessels obtaining electricity services from the island's harbour will be charged under a specific policy. The council added that this decision was made to ensure the sustainable provision of electricity services on an equal basis to all parties using the harbour.
Under the "Policy on Providing Electricity from Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Harbour", fees will be charged to vessels in two ways. The first method applies to parties that install a meter on the dhoni meeting the standards accepted by Fenaka Corporation Limited; they will be billed for the amount of electricity consumed at the rate Fenaka Corporation charges. Vessels with meters meeting Fenaka Corporation Limited's standards will be billed after electricity usage is complete, based on meter readings, at the commercial rate charged by Fenaka Corporation at that time. Parties billed via meter readings do not have to pay in advance. They also do not have to keep a deposit.
The second method is billing based on an hourly rate for the duration electricity is used. Under this method, a specific rate will be charged per hour, and a different rate if used for a month. Parties charged by the hourly rate will be provided the service upon requesting it and paying for the requested duration. Payments can be made via online transfer, to the council office, or through a government-accepted online platform such as Bandeyri Pay. If a party that has paid for a specific duration requests additional time, the service will be extended upon payment for the extra time required.
