The "Internship Program 2026 for Women Preparing Fish Products" has been launched.
The internship program, which began with four participants, is divided into two parts. The Fisheries Ministry stated that the first part, the theory sessions, started in Male' on the 10th of this month and will continue until tomorrow.
The second part of the program will be held from 16 to 24 May 2026 at the "Horizon Fisheries" fish processing factory established in L. Maandhoo. The Fisheries Ministry stated that participants will get the opportunity to gain practical experience of the work being done in this industry by the company.
This internship program is a training program conducted by the Ministry of Fisheries with the assistance of the World Bank's "Transform" project, aimed at women active in the fishing industry.
The main objective of this program is to improve the quality of work and empower those active in the field of fish product preparation. Participants will also be provided with practical experience of how large companies operating in this industry work through this program.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government is doing a lot of work to develop the Maldives' fishing industry and increase economic benefits. In particular, the government is encouraging new people to enter this field.
