A batch of the Niyami Certificate-2 course conducted by the IITE Maritime Academy has begun in Addu City Meedhoo.
Conducted in collaboration with Addu Travel and Tours in Meedhoo ward, a total of 29 individuals of various age groups are participating in this course.
Held at the IUM campus, this course is the 562nd batch of the Niyami Certificate-2 conducted by the IITE Maritime Academy. The academy stated that classes for this batch will continue until tomorrow.
The Niyami Course-2 paves the way to obtain the license required to captain Category-B vessels, which can travel up to 24 miles outside the atolls of the Maldives. The course teaches modules including navigation, communication, and general vessel information.
IITE Maritime Academy is the longest-running academy conducting maritime courses in the Maldives. The courses generally conducted by the academy include crew courses, mechanic courses, Niyami Certificate-1, and Niyami Certificate-2. Various batches of these courses are conducted every year in Male' and the atolls. IITE Maritime Academy stated that they have planned to conduct various courses in Male' next month as well.
