Ice plant opened in Kanduoiygiri

An ice plant has been opened in Kanduoiygiri, operated by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).

The ice plant was officially inaugurated at a ceremony held in Kanduoiygiri this evening by the State Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources, Mohamed Muthalib. The ceremony was attended by MIFCO's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas, as well as senior officials from the Fisheries Ministry and MIFCO.

The ice plant opened today in Kanduoiygiri produces 25 tonnes of ice per day. MIFCO stated that this ice plant, established to resolve the difficulties faced by fishermen in the region in obtaining ice, will ensure that skipjack and yellowfin tuna vessels can get ice without any difficulties.

As this region has a large yellowfin tuna fishing population, this ice plant will provide an overall solution to the difficulties faced by yellowfin tuna fishermen in the area in obtaining ice.
