Hope is that MIFCO will provide a good solution for 10-15kg yellowfin tuna this week: BKMU

The Bodu Kanneli Masveringe Union (BKMU) has expressed hope that the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) will provide a favorable solution for 10-15 kg yellowfin tuna within this week.

In a social media post shared by the union regarding their meeting with MIFCO today, they stated that the challenges in the yellowfin tuna fishing industry were discussed. Additionally, they shared the reasons why fishermen want MIFCO to enter the yellowfin tuna fishing industry.

During this consultative meeting, which was attended by MIFCO's CEO Brigadier General (Retired) Farhath Shaheer and senior officials of the company, discussions were held on increasing the income of yellowfin tuna fishermen and matters that would benefit the industry.

MIFCO has reopened the Kanduoiygiri facility and started purchasing yellowfin tuna above 15 kg at a rate of 25 Rufiyaa. BKMU stated that it is their hope that MIFCO will arrange a good solution for 10-15 kg yellowfin tuna within this week as well.
