The Thiladhunmathi Uthuruburi Atoll Council has decided to celebrate this year's "Fishermen's Day" colorfully.
The council stated that the purpose of celebrating Fishermen's Day is to maintain and revive friendship and unity among the citizens of HA. Atoll, and to strengthen social ties. The council also mentioned that the work to designate an island to host the Fishermen's Day celebrations has now begun.
The Thiladhunmathi Uthuruburi Atoll Council has now opened the opportunity for island councils and clubs or associations in the atoll to submit proposals to celebrate Fishermen's Day colorfully in the atoll. Islands and associations wishing to host Fishermen's Day are requested to complete their proposals and submit them before 12:00 on Tuesday, the 29th of this month, to the council's official email info@halifatoll.gov.mv or to the Atoll Council Office.
The council said the island to host Fishermen's Day will be determined based on a marking criteria by an evaluation committee appointed for the task. The council also stated that financial assistance of MVR 30,000.00 will be given to the party that gets the opportunity to host.
The government has decided to hold the official celebrations of this year's Fishermen's Day in Male' City. This year marks the 44th Fishermen's Day. The opportunity to apply for the awards to be given by the government on Fishermen's Day has also been opened now.
