President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government is investing in the fisheries sector to encourage people to enter the industry and to expand the Maldivian economy by bringing it into the hands of Maldivians.
He made these remarks while speaking to the residents of Komandoo during his ongoing tour of the islands in North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
The President stated that all the promises he has made will be fulfilled completely. Noting that the Maldivian economy was in a deep pit when this government took over, the President said that the government is also working to overcome that pit, stand the economy up, and put it on the right track. The President further stated that the government is carrying out everything in a specific order, and that nothing will be left stalled or undone. The President also assured that every promise made to the citizens will be fully fulfilled.
"We are carrying out the work by organizing and planning. Just because a promise has been made to the citizens, we are not going to start it somehow and then leave it without planning what happens next. We are carrying out these works in an organized manner so that they are implemented properly," the President said.
Highlighting the fisheries sector, the President said that the government is investing in the fisheries industry with the aim of bringing back people who were previously involved in fisheries but had moved away from it, and also to introduce new people to the field. The President said that this would revive and develop fisheries.
"In the fisheries sector as well, to revive fisheries in this island and this atoll, we are investing on behalf of the government to establish ice plants and other things. Then I am sure that those who were previously involved in fisheries, the vessel owners who have now left fisheries and started other businesses, will return to fisheries," the President said.
The President said that these opportunities are being opened up to expand the Maldivian economy and bring it into the hands of Maldivians. The President also said that these things are being done with planning and within a specific plan.
