The government has arranged for fishing vessels to receive fuel at subsidized rates from Dhaalu Meedhoo.
Announcing this, the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources said today that starting tomorrow, all fishing vessels registered under the government's 'Fahi Hakatha' program will have full arrangements in place to purchase fuel at subsidized prices in Dhaalu Meedhoo.
The Ministry stated that under this arrangement, the fuel quota for every eligible fishing vessel will be determined and issued through the established official Fisheries Information System. The practical work of providing fuel to vessels at the special subsidized price will be carried out through the State Trading Organization (STO) fuel sheds currently operating on the island.
The Ministry further stated that starting tomorrow, through this information system and STO sheds, all fishermen participating in the Fahi Hakatha program will begin receiving fuel at subsidized prices without any difficulties.
