The ice plant operated by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) in GDh. Gadhdhoo has once again come to a halt.
Operations at the Gadhdhoo ice plant are currently suspended because they have not received the diesel required to run the plant, the facility stated.
The service was previously interrupted due to an issue with the Gadhdhoo ice plant's condenser pump, which was resolved and brought back into operation last Tuesday.
Including the Gadhdhoo ice plant, 11 ice plants have been established in Huvadhoo Atoll. However, at present, ice is only available from the GDh. Thinadhoo and Faresmaathodaa ice plants.
Fishermen noted that with fishing improving and a large number of vessels out fishing, boats from other atolls are also operating in the Huvadhoo region alongside the atoll's own vessels.
