The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has repaired and brought the ice plant operated in GDh. Gadhdhoo back into operation.
Services at the Gadhdhoo ice plant were interrupted due to an issue with the plant's condenser pump.
MIFCO's General Manager of Technical and Projects, Muaz Ali, stated that the technical issue faced by the Gadhdhoo ice plant has been resolved and it is now back in operation.
"The technical issue faced by the Gadhdhoo ice plant has now been resolved, and while ice production has successfully commenced, operations are also proceeding smoothly," Muaz said.
During the period when operations were halted due to the issue at the Gadhdhoo ice plant, Gadhdhoo fishermen were getting ice from the Faresmaathodaa and Thinadhoo ice plants.
The Gadhdhoo ice plant is capable of producing 50 tonnes of flake ice per day. With the ice plant back in operation, vessels from Gadhdhoo, as well as those operating in the fisheries sector in Huvadhu Atoll and other atolls in the region, now have the opportunity to easily obtain ice.
