Fuvahmulah City's trolling FAD re-deployed

Fuvahmulah City's trolling FAD has been re-deployed.

A trolling FAD specifically for trolling and recreational fishing was initially deployed in Fuvahmulah City in October 2024. After the FAD was disconnected and lost for some time, it was re-deployed this morning.

During the Fisheries Ministry's ongoing trip to the southern atolls, the Fuvahmulah City trolling FAD was deployed today in the same area as before, 6 miles west of Fuvahmulah City. The FAD number is Q09V01.

The Fisheries Ministry team also deployed an additional trolling FAD in Fuvahmulah City yesterday. That FAD number is Q10V01-01. It was deployed 10 miles east of the city.

The main purpose of establishing these trolling FADs is to further advance and sustainably develop fishing in the area, and to facilitate the city's fishermen, young fishermen active in the region, and those engaged in recreational fishing, the Fisheries Ministry stated.

Trolling FADs established at a distance of 3 to 6 miles around the islands are specialized for trolling and sport fishing. The trolling FAD is designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify its location.
