The severed Sh. Funadhoo pole-and-line FAD has been re-deployed.
During the Fisheries Ministry team's ongoing trip to the north, this FAD was deployed at its previous location, 11.5 miles northeast of Sh. Funadhoo. The FAD number is D09D01.
Funadhoo pole-and-line FAD re-deployed
Pole-and-line FADs are specially deployed for pole-and-line fishing or skipjack tuna fishing. It is legally prohibited to conduct other types of fishing in the area surrounding these FADs in a manner that obstructs pole-and-line fishing vessels.
Looking at the Maldives' FAD network, there are currently 65 pole-and-line FADs. Out of these, 3 FADs are established in Sh. atoll.
