Funadhoo ice plant work to begin after Ramadan

Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam has stated that the work on the ice plant planned by the government to be developed in Sh. Funadhoo will begin after the upcoming month of Ramadan.

Speaking at a meeting held with the residents of Funadhoo during the ongoing trip to the north with the President, Shiyam said that the ice plant work can commence once Ramadan concludes, and the target is to complete the establishment of the plant within three months.

The Minister said that the project is currently at the tendering stage, and the ice plant work will begin as soon as it is awarded to MIFCO.

In addition to the ice plant, the Minister said that the work to deploy a trolling FAD near Funadhoo will also begin next week. He also stated that research will be conducted to develop mariculture on the island and opportunities will be facilitated for it.
