Fuel has run out at the GA. Kooddoo facility and Mahaakalaminja.
Skippers from the southern atolls stated that they have been informed that fuel is currently unavailable from the Mahaakalaminja vessel anchored outside Thinadhoo City and the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex (KFC).
MIFCO stated that the service is currently interrupted due to a lack of fuel. They added that the time when fuel services will resume will be announced later.
Keyolha has learned that fuel is supplied to KFC and Mahaakalaminja by Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM). MIFCO is facing difficulties in obtaining fuel because STO is no longer releasing fuel on credit to MIFCO due to a large "backlog" of unpaid bills. A comment from STO regarding this matter has not yet been received.
It has been some time since MIFCO's facilities and vessels stopped issuing fuel on credit to fishermen. MIFCO previously stated that fuel cannot be issued because STO is currently controlling the release of fuel. Furthermore, MIFCO has previously stated that the company is not currently in a position to provide fuel on credit to fishermen.
