Fuel availability restored at Felivaru and Kooddoo, but vessels still unable to get fuel!

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that arrangements have been made to provide fuel from Felivaru Fisheries Complex (FFC) and Kooddoo Fisheries Complex (KFC).

KFC and Mahaakalaminja ran out of fuel stock yesterday because MIFCO was unable to secure fuel from the State Trading Organization (STO). MIFCO stated tonight that through efforts made so far, STO has released enough fuel stock to supply from Felivaru and KFC at this time.

"We received 50,000 litres of fuel from STO. We will continue to supply from both sites (FFC and KFC) until it runs out. That is the amount secured through the efforts made so far," MIFCO said.

Although fuel is now being supplied from these two sites, there is still not enough fuel to supply from the vessels. MIFCO stated that they are also working to secure fuel for the vessels. Furthermore, MIFCO said they are working to facilitate fuel provision in the coming days.

"MIFCO is still working tirelessly to find a solution for the coming days," MIFCO said.

STO is releasing fuel to MIFCO on a controlled basis because MIFCO has not been paying the bills for previous fuel purchases. Regarding this issue, MIFCO has been stating that due to its current financial situation, it does not have such a large amount to pay all at once.
