Foundation Laid for Fisheries Complex in Ihavandhoo

The foundation has been laid for the fisheries complex that the government has decided to develop in HA. Ihavandhoo.

During a ceremony held in HA. Ihavandhoo yesterday, the foundation stone for the HA. Ihavandhoo Fisheries Complex was laid by Minister Ahmed Shiyam, MIFCO CEO Dr. Vitaly, and Ihavandhoo Council President Sabah.

According to the government, this project, carried out with financial assistance from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), will cost a total of 474 million Rufiyaa. The practical work of the project will begin next May, and the project will be completed within 18 months of commencement.

This project includes:

1. A 1000-ton cold storage

2. 50-ton brine freezing

Office building and warehouse required for the facility

A 1000-meter long quay wall with a depth of 7 meters

A 4.5-meter deep jetty with a 3-point fish weighing system

The government estimates that once the development of the fisheries complex is completed and operational, 150 jobs will be created in Ihavandhoo, further developing the fishing industry.
