Foundation laid for a 30-ton ice plant in Naifaru

The foundation stone for the ice plant to be developed in Lh. Naifaru was laid today.

A 30-ton ice plant and a 50-ton ice storage facility are scheduled to be established in Naifaru.

The foundation was laid during a special ceremony held in Lh. Naifaru today, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tour to meet the citizens. The ceremony was graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The foundation stone for the ice plant was laid by Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam. The Minister was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for the Naifaru constituency, Yaseen Abdulla, and the President of the Naifaru Council, Mohamed Rasheed.

The work of the Naifaru ice plant has been contracted to the state fisheries company, MIFCO.

Upon completion of this ice plant, it will be much easier for fishermen in Naifaru and the surrounding region to obtain ice. This will be a major boost to fisheries and the economy.

One of the biggest concerns for Maldivian fishermen is the lack of easy access to ice at affordable prices. To provide a permanent solution to this concern, work has begun to establish ice plants and ice storage facilities across various parts of the Maldives.

Each of these works are projects that will bring immense relief and convenience to fishermen in many ways.

The government aims to complete the ice plants being established in various islands of the Maldives within the next two years.
