Foreigner dies in landing craft capsize incident

A foreign national has died in an incident where a landing craft capsized off the coast near Maldives Ports Limited.

There were 14 people on board when the landing craft capsized this afternoon. Among them, 4 Maldivians and 2 foreigners were injured and treated at IGMH. Police had earlier stated, citing IGMH, that one of the foreigners had sustained major injuries and was in serious condition.

In connection with this incident, police have just stated that one of the people on the landing craft has passed away. Police identified the deceased as Masud Hossain, a 32-year-old Bangladeshi national. However, it is not yet clear if the deceased was the individual being treated at IGMH.

Police said they received information about the incident at 3:44 pm today.
