Fiyori Council to Hold Fishing Tournament to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr

The GDh. Fiyori Council has decided to hold a fishing tournament to coincide with this year's Eid al-Fitr.

The council stated that the decision to hold a fishing tournament named "GDh. Fiyori Masrace 2025" was made to celebrate this year's Eid al-Fitr colorfully, to establish friendship and unity among the island's residents, to encourage youth to build a fishing generation that loves fishing, and with the aim of increasing the enthusiasm for fishing and catching fish. The council said that this fishing tournament, which is open to the general public of the island, is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The council has now published the rules of the fishing tournament and opened the opportunity to register to participate in the fishing tournament. The council has requested interested parties to complete the "GDh. Fiyori Masrace 2025" participation form and submit it to the council office before 12:00 on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Those who wish to send the form via email must email it to info@fiyori.gov.mv.

Participation in the fishing tournament is by forming teams. The council said that teams can participate in the tournament representing clubs, associations, offices, and groups. People over the age of 18 can participate in the team. However, children under the age of 18 will also have the opportunity to participate in the race with the consent of their parents and with the parents taking responsibility. At least 4 people must be included in the team list. And, any number of participants, including women and men, can be included in the list. However, only 5 people can go fishing.

Prizes have been offered to the winning teams participating in the fishing tournament.

In addition, the council has decided to give a prize of 500 Rufiyaa to the person who catches the heaviest fish in the fishing tournament, the oldest fisherman participating in the tournament, and the youngest fisherman.
