The fishing vessel 'Natheeja-3', which has been operating out of Dh. Maaenboodhoo, is set to be sold.
Ali Naseer, one of the vessel's shareholders, stated that although the boat was built by his family and previously operated under his name, it is family property. With the passing of their parents, the vessel's registration has now been transferred to the names of all other family members. Naseer explained that the boat is being sold because his current health condition prevents him from operating it effectively, leading to a prolonged lack of adequate income. Therefore, family members believe selling it is the best option at this time.
"I used to work at a resort, but I resigned and came back to the island to operate the boat. The boat was built about 10 years ago, and it has been operating for 8 years. Although the boat was previously in my name, it is considered inherited property and has now been transferred to the names of all family members. Due to my current health condition, it is very difficult to operate the boat myself. It has been three months since the boat last went fishing. So, everyone agrees that the best option right now is to sell the boat and distribute the money among everyone. That's why we are selling it," Ali Naseer said.
