The M. Kolhufushi Council has decided to auction off the island's community fishing vessel, 'Dhururaasthaa-8'.
The council publicly announced the auction of the 85-foot vessel yesterday, following two previous unsuccessful attempts to lease the boat.
According to the council, the starting bid for the auction is MVR 2.5 million, with a minimum bid increment of MVR 50,000. Interested parties are requested to submit the designated auction form to the council office counter or email it to info@kolhufushi.gov.mv before 12:00 hrs every day. The highest bid submitted each day will be published on the council's website at 14:00 hrs daily.
The council stated that bids must be submitted within the designated time, accompanied by the highest proposed price, a copy of the bidder's ID card, and, if submitted by a company, a copy of the company registration.
The auction is scheduled to commence next Monday. If the highest bid remains unchanged for three consecutive official working days, the auction will be concluded at that price. The winning bidder must make the payment to the council office within three official days from the conclusion of the auction and remove the vessel within seven days. If the payment is not made within the given period, the opportunity will be passed to the second-highest bidder. Similarly, if the second-highest bidder fails to pay, the third-highest bidder will be given the chance. If the third bidder also defaults, the auction will be cancelled.
For those interested in inspecting the vessel, the council will arrange viewings between 10:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs on any non-public holiday upon visiting the council office.
