Fishing Competition to be Held in Maduvvari to Mark Fishermen's Day

In connection with the 45th Fishermen's Day of the Maldives, it has been decided to hold a fishing competition in R. Maduvvari, and the opportunity to participate in the race has been opened.

The island council stated that a reef fishing competition has been planned to mark Fishermen's Day, and the race will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Interested parties wishing to participate in this fishing competition, which is generally open to individuals over 18 years of age, are requested by the council to complete the participation form and submit it before 14:00 on December 08, 2024. The council stated that only vessels registered with the Ministry of Transport and displaying their registration number can participate in the fishing competition.

The council noted that only Maldivians are allowed to participate in this race. Additionally, the council stated that a team must consist of a minimum of four members and a maximum of seven members.

Categories and prizes to be awarded in the competition:

• Team weighing the most kilograms – MVR 5000.00

According to the rules of the race, in the event of a tie in the number of kilograms when selecting the winners, preference will be given to the team that has weighed the most fish among the two tied teams. If there is still a tie, the rules state that the team that returned to the island first will be considered.
