Fishermen's forum to be held in connection with Fishermen's Day

The Fisheries Ministry has decided to hold a fishermen's forum to mark this year's Fishermen's Day.

"Fishermen's Forum 2024" is a forum held to provide various information related to the industry to those active in the fishing industry, and to discuss ways to solve the difficulties in the industry and how to develop and advance the industry. This forum will be held from December 11 to 14 in Male' City.

The Fisheries Ministry has decided to invite 2 individuals designated from every inhabited island to participate in this forum, the official Fishermen's Day ceremony, and other activities planned to be held in Male' City in connection with the day. The Ministry stated that these 2 individuals must be a captain or crew member of a currently active fishing vessel representing the sea fishery of each island. The travel, accommodation, and food expenses of these participants will be covered by the Fisheries Ministry.

The government has been celebrating Fishermen's Day on December 10 of every year. This year will mark the 44th Fishermen's Day.
