The Fisheries Ministry has decided to hold a cooking competition as part of the activities to mark this year's Fishermen's Day.
The cooking competition, named "Rahavaru", is scheduled to be held in Male' City on the 7th of next month in collaboration with the Chefs Guild of Maldives (CGM), the Fisheries Ministry stated. The main objective of this competition is to provide opportunities for youth and newcomers to the culinary field, and to involve them in efforts to diversify and sustainably develop the fishing industry, the Ministry added.
The Ministry has now opened the opportunity for interested parties to participate in this competition. The opportunity is open to individuals over 16 years of age, and teams of 3-4 non-professional chefs interested in cooking can participate, the Ministry said. Participants are requested to complete the designated Google Form and submit it before 14:00 on Sunday, 1 December 2024.
The Ministry has allocated a cash prize of 10,000 Rufiyaa for the first place winner, 7,000 Rufiyaa for the second place, and 5,000 Rufiyaa for the third place. The dishes in the competition will be judged by a panel of three judges nominated by CGM.
