To mark World Oceans Day, the Fisheries Ministry has decided to conduct a series of activities under the name "Moodhu Fest".
Aimed at encouraging youth and children to protect the ocean and marine environment, the "Moodhu Fest" activities will take place next Saturday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the beach of Hulhumale Phase 1.
"Moodhu Fest" is scheduled to kick off with a Discover Dive event held in collaboration with dive centres. The "Discover Dive" activity is aimed at giving 40 children between the ages of 8 and 15 the experience of diving, the Fisheries Ministry stated. This activity is designed to show children the beauty of the ocean and provide information about marine life.

Additional activities at "Moodhu Fest" include setting up special stalls to provide marine information. During this event, information will be given to children and families about the importance of protecting the oceans, and opportunities to advance in the marine and fisheries sectors sustainably will be showcased. Furthermore, various games specifically for children have also been planned. The Ministry has opened the opportunity for as many children as possible to participate in this event.
Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam and senior state officials will participate in "Moodhu Fest". The Fisheries Ministry informs that the Ministry, relevant government agencies, businesses, environmental civil society organizations, and food vendors will participate in this festival. Prizes will be awarded to participants of the event, and certificates of appreciation will be given to those who assist in conducting the event in various ways, the Fisheries Ministry stated.
