To mark World Oceans Day, the "Moodhu Fest" organized by the Fisheries Ministry will be held in Hulhumale' this afternoon.
Aimed at encouraging youth and children to protect the ocean and marine environment, the "Moodhu Fest" activities will take place from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm today at the Hulhumale' Phase 1 beach.
"Moodhu Fest" is scheduled to begin with a Discover Dive event conducted in collaboration with dive centres. This is a diving activity designed to show the beauty of the ocean and provide information on marine life to 40 children between the ages of 8 and 15. In addition, various games and activities have been planned specifically for children. The Ministry has opened the opportunity for as many children as possible to participate in this event.
Additional activities at the "Moodhu Fest" include setting up stalls specifically to provide information about the ocean. According to the Fisheries Ministry, relevant government agencies, businesses, civil society organizations in the environmental sector, and food vendors will participate in these stalls.
Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam and senior state officials will participate in this event.
