Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources Ahmed Shiyam has held a successful meeting with members of the European Parliament.
Held on the sidelines of the 30th session of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) currently underway in the Maldives, the meeting mainly focused on further strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and the European Union (EU) and identifying ways to eliminate barriers in the trade sector.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources stated that extensive discussions were held on increasing European investments in the Maldives and implementing the exemplary achievements of the Maldives in sustainable fisheries management in other countries of the Indian Ocean region.
