The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), which operates the Felivaru Fisheries Complex (FFC), has announced the decision to temporarily halt production at the facility to carry out maintenance work.
MIFCO stated that production at Felivaru will be suspended for a period of one week starting tomorrow. According to MIFCO, production is being halted to provide necessary training to employees and to conduct maintenance work in order to maintain FFC's export certificates and the assurance required by buyers. Although production at Felivaru is halted during this period, MIFCO stated that fish purchasing will continue at Felivaru and its vessels, and ice will still be issued.
According to a reliable source who informed 'Keyolha', despite the closure of FFC, there is enough canned fish in stock to meet market demand during this period. Additionally, during this time, training sessions such as 'fire safety' and 'health safety' are planned to familiarize FFC employees with safety standards.
