Former Vice Chief of Defence Force, Brigadier General (Rtd) Farhath Shaheer has been appointed to the position of CEO of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) announced Farhath Shaheer's appointment as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MIFCO in a post shared on X just now.
Farhath was appointed as the CEO of MIFCO following the dismissal of the company's former CEO, Vitaly Lubimov, last Monday.
After retiring from the Maldivian military, where he served in various ranks for over 30 years, Farhath served as the CEO of IGMH during President Yameen's administration. Under Farhath's leadership as CEO, IGMH was modernized and super-specialty services were officially launched. This included upgrading the hospital's ICU and theaters to modern standards, establishing a cardiology center, and initiating procedures such as angioplasty for the first time.
