Faresmaathodaa boat runs aground, suffering major damages!

A boat belonging to Faresmaathodaa has run aground and sunk, resulting in major damages.

The boat, named 'Fahiroalhi', sank while travelling from Male to Faresmaathodaa loaded with goods.

Regarding the incident, the police said today that they received information about the boat running aground on a reef near V. Felidhoo at around 05:01 yesterday morning. The police stated that there were a total of 12 people on board at the time of the incident, including 6 passengers, 4 crew members, the owner of the boat, and the captain, and that they were taken to Felidhoo with the assistance of the police.

The police said that a large part of the grounded boat is now underwater.

"The boat ran aground, the bow broke open, and it took on water. A large part of the boat is now underwater," the police stated.

The police are investigating the incident. In connection with the incident, the MNDF Male Area Command, Coast Guard Second Squadron, along with divers, are currently active.

The boat ran aground 5 nautical miles west of V. Felidhoo.
