A Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) has been deployed off the coast of N. Velidhoo.
The technical team of the Fisheries Ministry deployed the FAD today, 5.5 miles south of N. Velidhoo. The FAD number is E09V04.

Established at a significant cost to the state, these FADs, placed between 3 to 6 miles around the islands, are specifically designed for trolling and sports fishing. The FADs are designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify their location. Furthermore, they are painted yellow to easily distinguish them from FADs dedicated to pole-and-line fishing, and to make them easier to spot against the blue horizon.
As the maintenance of these FADs is arranged through those engaged in trolling and recreational fishing, the Fisheries Ministry has requested that any damage to the FADs be reported without delay. Accordingly, if a FAD is disconnected, details such as the date it was disconnected, the date it was found (if found), the finder, the finding vessel, the buoy, items found with the buoy, and the details of where it was disconnected should be reported promptly.
