A Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) specialized for trolling and recreational fishing has been deployed off the coast of L. Maavah.
The Fisheries Ministry team deployed the FAD yesterday, 4 miles west of L. Maavah. The FAD number is M09V01.

With this FAD, the total number of trolling FADs in L. Atoll is 2. The previously deployed FAD is located 4.5 miles south of Fonadhoo in the atoll. That FAD was deployed in April last year. These trolling FADs are established in L. Atoll with the aim of further advancing and sustainably developing the atoll's fisheries, and to facilitate the atoll's fishermen, young fishermen active in the area, and those engaged in recreational fishing.
Trolling FADs established at a distance of between 3 to 6 miles around the islands are specialized for trolling and sport fishing. The trolling FAD is designed with a light visible from afar and a radar reflector to easily identify the location of the FAD.
