The project contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), has stated that the design and construction of the B. Eydhafushi Harbour project is proceeding at a fast pace.
MTCC stated that under this project, the installation of concrete blocks required for the harbour's quay wall is currently underway at the site.
The Eydhafushi Harbour project was awarded to MTCC on 22 June 2023. This is a 64.67 million Rufiyaa project.
Works under this project include dredging the existing harbour basin to 28,304 cubic metres, along with dredging the harbour channel to 3,354 cubic metres. It also includes the construction of a 402-metre quay wall, a 170-metre breakwater, a 383-metre revetment, an 11x11 metre concrete ramp, and an 18x2 metre concrete bridge. Furthermore, it involves laying 1,814 square metres of harbour pavement, installing harbour lights and mooring buoys, and constructing an access platform for the high-speed ferry network.
Looking at the overall project, MTCC has stated that 44% of the work is now complete.
